very good notepad
whenever i want to save or jot down some text i open textedit. it's a habit, or quirk. i know there are more efficient ways but here we are.
it works and i like the isolation of these notes. i don't want them in apple notes, some code editor, web app, or system. it's the equivalent of taking a scrap piece of paper and writing something down. maybe it gets discarded, maybe saved. mostly discarded.
problem with textedit — it asks you if you want to save, delete, or cancel when you close a note. after a while notes collect and it annoys me to revisit them and decide what to do.
so i built this. it behaves like textedit but auto-saves and names notes so i don't have to care about any of that.
i built it using claude code and its new xcode integration. it's a nice example of how easy it's become to build software that does exactly what you need. i made this for myself but maybe someone else finds it useful too.
how it works
don't worry about saving, naming, or organizing. open, write, done. files are stored as plain text with automatic saving.
